Good Merry Morning everybody!
Hope you have all had a wonderful week and are looking forward to a beautiful weekend!
This week’s blog post will be a little different from the last few, but I feel like it is an important topic to talk about, especially at this time of year!
The title of this post has been deemed as such because, though we may not be aware of it, it is something we should all strive to have in our lives and share with others; Kindness.
The holidays are upon us and most of us are feeling merry and bright, but it is important to remember that though for many of us this is a happy time of year, it can also be a hard and challenging time for many others.
I didn’t want to make this notion of giving and having kindness in your life primarily about the holiday season because it truly is something we should carry on through the year, especially in times when our world is fighting many battles, both big and small.
But, if you didn’t really know where to begin, this time of year is a good place to start being more conscious of what you say and what you do, and perhaps your actions towards both yourself and others.
I’m not preaching that you should pay for someone’s fuel, or the person behind you in the drive through at McDonalds (though if you have the means, its always a good way to spread some joy).
I’m saying that instead of looking at your feet, maybe you can smile at the strangers you pass on the street.
Maybe we can say PLEASE and THANK YOU more often, and understand that when someone has road rage at you, that maybe they’re just having a really bad day and you can send a good vibe their way.
Tell someone they look nice or leave a good tip at breakfast. Hold the door open for someone or maybe give up your seat on public transport to someone who ISN’T pregnant, or disabled or elderly, just give them a seat because they too, had a long day and want to take a load off.
It’s these little acts that can cost you literally nothing, that this time of year should be about. Making others, and yourself feel good, and happy without the pressures of the commercial world.
So smile more today, and throw out compliments like confetti and lets bring a little more kindness into our lives this season and start the New Year the right way!
